I tried the sub out in an aquarium filled with goldfish. The fish didn't seem to mind the sub at all.
The submarine is quite maneuverable. All of the controls are provided by the motors. The motor pods are fixed into a downward position so when you apply throttle, the motors push the sub down and forward. When you apply what would normally be a rudder command, one of the motors slows down and causes the sub to turn. This sounds kind of clunky but it works pretty well although the sub does tend to rise a bit when negotiating a turn.
The fish were curious of the new visitor. You do have to be careful that you don't hit the fish with the propellers. Definitely not manatees safe!
I did find that one of the motors was slightly stronger then the other causing the sub to turn slowly in one direction. This was cured by adjusting the radio trim.
The rear of the submarine doesn't contain a propeller or any movable surfaces.
The battery is quite small but provides a decent run time. I got about ten minutes before the battery needed to be recharged. Charging takes approximately one hour.
