Trial #2

Up Trial #1 Trial #2

For the second sea trial, we found some larger waters to sail.  The kiddy pool was too small to adequately test it.Click for high resolution image
On the surface the boat has decent range for it's size.  The range was easily over 10 feet.  However once under water the range was something like 2 feet.  If you went deeper then that you lost all control of the sub.  There is no safety mechanism to automatically surface the boat if it loses the signal so I got to go swimming several times to recover the boat.Click for high resolution image
The boat is a lot of fun, once the max depth is discovered, it's easy to keep it within the safe operational zone.Click for high resolution image
This boat is easy enough for a child to control.  The slow speed and high maneuverability are pluses.  However the lack of a automatic surfacing function if the signal is lost is dangerous since it tempts the child to go and get the submarine from the bottom of the pool.Click for high resolution image
During this sea trial we were called upon to perform a rescue mission.  Happily we were ready!Click to view movie

The mission was a total success.  The rescued was safe and sound and returned to the wild.Click for high resolution image
