| This is a nice little ready to run submarine from Graupner. It's a static diver which is surprising for a sub this small. The only thing you need to add to get this boat into the water is a 9 volt battery for the transmitter and 6 c-cell batteries for the submarine charger.
Besides the cool factor of being a static diver, the submarine also features some LED's, perfect for night missions in the local koi pond! It's pretty easy to control and is highly maneuverable. It makes a good wading pool or hot tub toy. The run times are long which is a good thing since it's pretty fun to sail, especially if you have some navigation obstacles such as a sunken pipe to sail through. The range is fair on the surface but is somewhat short once under water. I would say this is a pretty good boat for a kid except that for one thing. If the boat goes too deep, it loses the radio signal and sinks to the bottom. This may entice a child to go in after it. I managed to sink it on the bottom of the pool several times. The pool was 6 feet deep but the boat suffered no damage. I had a lot of fun with this one. It's fun to sail, has really good battery life and is pretty rugged. The only thing I really missed was an automatic surface function if the radio signal was lost. The small size makes it extremely portable so I can stuff it in a bag when I head for the pool. The low price and high fun factor makes this one a winner. | |||
