This kit is of a generic harbor work boat which features a crane at the rear. The kit is fairly easy to assemble. It includes the drive line and motor. It also comes with the fittings which is usually sold separately by Robbe so it's nice to have them included. There are a couple of extra options, one being a kit to make the crane operational, and the other is a set of two harbor buoys for use with the operational crane. Both of these options are covered in the construction section. Additionally, lights and a working radar can be added but these are not detailed in the instructions.
I'll admit that at first I was turned off by the looks of this boat but it's grown on me since. I enjoyed building this boat although I did have a little trouble with the windows and drilling a large hole for the crane. The boat is fun to sail, it's challenging to try to recover the buoys since it's very hard if not impossible to steer the boat in reverse. A bow thruster would really help. I added working lights and it's a good boat for night sails as it's pretty water tight and doesn't have to be babied. The crane works well, on rare occasionally the line will get tangled but it's easy to get it straightened out. I'd recommend this boat to just about anybody. Some soldering and painting skills are required but other then that it's a pretty easy build. Viewed: | |||
