| Banckert by Billing This is a replica of a tugboat used in Holland. The kit is designed for rc use. The drive line and prop are included but it is up to you to figure out how to mount the motor and associated rc parts. The battery shown in the instructions is a dry cell type that measures around 2 1/2 X 2 1/2. I had trouble finding a battery that would fit and ended using two small 6 volt batteries. The access to the battery compartment is small so battery size is critical. The instructions are unique in that there is no text, just pictures. This works for the most part but I would have liked some measurements for component placement. The hull and top deck is made of thin plastic and is well marked so trimming is easy. I found the plastic to be a bit to thin for my taste. Also, I had trouble finding spray paint that would stick well to the plastic. The superstructure is made of wood. The wood is not cut out so get your scroll saw, Xacto knives and sand paper out.
There are no major short comings but I would have like to have seen pre-cut wood, a recommendation for the motor and mount, and some measurements for placing the rudder shafts. These are minor gripes and all and all this is a great kit. I found it easy to build and the end result is a very nice looking tug. Viewed: | |||
