This fine looking boat was built by Diego Gaston. He writes:
"...I am almost done with my Amsterdam. Just towed around the pond a 130 pound battleship. Nice boat but it needs either a bigger rudder or a bowthruster to have any control on reverse. I attached a picture of my model 95% completed...."
Amsterdam model by Bill W.
I found this excellent example for sale on Ebay. Bill W. who built the boats says "...I have been building model planes for 55 years, and I am getting so I can't fly them anymore, so started on boats about a year ago...."
Bill says "...I like to build so my daughter and I thought we could build some and sellthem, we are also building the mantle display kind..."
Amsterdam model by Fritz
Here is another buildup by a gentleman named Fritz. He writes:
"I have started to install aGraupner bow thruster in my boat (www.harbormodels.com -$29.95) and have included some pictures of it beforecutting the tubes flush with the hull."
I wish I had seen these pictures before I started building mine. I definitely would have added a bow thruster. Fritz's installation looks like a factory part.
The bow thruster tubes will be smoothed in with the hull. They are delivered long to fit a variety of applications. This modification should make this boat extremely maneuverable.
Here, the bow thruster tubes have been cut down and smoothed in. Fritz writes:
"Here are two more of it with the tubes cut off. It was a little "scary" cutting big holes in the bow, but the installation was easy, and I am very pleased with the results."
