The Baltek is the little brother of the Super Hawaii.  It uses the same drive system except it only has one motor instead of two.  Since it uses the larger Super Hawaii hardware it is a bit heavier then it could be and suffers from the same gear alignment problem.  The good thing about using the larger driveline is that it can easily handle a stronger motor and prop.

On the water, it does offer good speed, maneuverability and a dry inner hull.  Although this boat would probably stay water tight, it's a bit small to run in the ocean.  If you like the design of this boat but want a lager version, I highly recommend that you take a look at it's bigger brother, the Super Hawaii.

Conclusion

This is a good looking boat and has pretty good speed for a sport boat.  I can't comment on the included mechanical speed controller as I replace it with an electronic one before trying the original one.  I did not like the default way of mounting the steering servo as it was too flimsy for me.  The motor gets very hot running off of a 3000ma/hr battery, I would be concerned about long term damage under these conditions but that can be solved by adding water cooling or possibly by turning down the timing.  These are just minor gripes compared to the inherited gear box problem that plagues the ABC Hobby line of boats.  It's easy to fix but should not have happened in the first place.  This problem is why I rate this boat below average.  Plan on fixing it and you will enjoy this boat!
