A lot of new submarine projects showed up at the August meeting. These are Rick's latest projects. He built the original mold for the 1/96 Typhoon you see on the right.
This is the OTW Type VII kit, probability the most detailed type VII kit there is. Notice the etched brass decking, sweet!
The fiberglass hull of the Type VII is greatly detailed. It even has rivet heads that show. The owner (Sorry, I can't remember his name) has done an extremely good job so far. He did quite a bit of work to remove any hull warpage and added extra bulkheads to stiffen it up.

Nice job on the vent holes.
Looks like we will have a bunch of new subs in the water next year!

Phil was trying out a new concept in using his tug boat as a rescue ship. The hooks are meant to grab hold of anything on the stricken boat's deck. The hooks make the boat look kind of like a fishing trawler.
Here the tug is attempting to grab the rear shroud line of the sail boat
During testing, the hooks made from pipe cleaners proved to be too weak to get the job done. However, the concept looks to be sound and with some stronger hooks it should work beautifully.
Chris brought out his Northwind and found the lake to have a pretty good breeze today.
