04-15-03 It's Back!  It took longer then planed to find a DSL provider but it is finally done and the site is back up.   I hope to get back on track quickly and start adding new content.  I don't exactly know what direction I will head in but then again, if I knew it would not be as much fun.  I am currently working on an old tunnel hull made by Robbe called the turbo cat.  When I bought the kit, the hull had been slightly modified.  I am redoing these changes and hope to post some pictures soon.

01/05/01 - Nothing new, I just wanted to wish everyone a happy new year.  I have been busy with some home repairs as well as the holidays and have not been able  to devote much time to my hobbies but that should change after this weekend.

I have made a bit of headway on the Paula and Amsterdam build ups.  I am in the process of painting the hulls with an airbrush which is a first for me.  I have noticed that the airbrush applies paint thinner then a spray can does so the paint surface must be much smoother since the paint doesn't hide scratches.  I'm still in the learning stages but the results are looking good.  Anyway, I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and will have the best of the coming year.

05/30/00 - I had to move the site back to Xoom because of it's size.  Most free web space providers limit you to 20 meg.  I tried breaking down the site into sections but even the submarine section by itself is over 20 meg.  Xoom doesn't support frontpage extensions so I can't use some of the cool features like their search engine.  Oh well.

04/10/00 - Added more U-47 build up and started building new Albacore control yokes out of brass in the Albacore options section.  Also added a For Sale web but it doesn't currently have any RC content.

04/06/00 - Rats!  You know that there is something wrong when the folks at the local dive shop shudders when you walk in.  While testing the automatic depth control on my Albacore submarine, I encounter a problem.  All was fine for about 1/2 hour then the depth control started working backwards!  The deeper the boat went, the more the dive planes rotated to go deeper.  Down went the Albacore to the bottom of the pond.  I can hear you now, "So Mister Fancy Pants, what about your fail safe do-hickey."  Well I was being Penny Wise (no, not the clown) and pound foolish.  I wanted to use the last little bit of propel left in the can and I guess it wasn't enough.

Thanks to Daryl and her ten thousand layers of wet suit, the sub has been recovered from the icy waters and is waiting to be refitted and tested.  I wish I took some pictures because Daryl looked like some sort of fresh water seal with all of the black neoprene she had on.  Fortunately for me, my parents were around so Daryl wasn't able to cuss at me about the water temp.

I've added more Robbe U-47 building detail.  It's almost time to paint it again, and of course it going to rain.  Future updates may be delayed.

03/30/00 - Added picture of screw joiner in u-47 section and started page on automatic depth control system in Albacore options section.

03/22/00 - Added bow buildup of U-47.  I'm at the point were I need to smooth in the vent panels and paint some of the boat before moving on with attaching the deck.  This will take a while so the next installment will be delayed.

03/21/00 - More Robbe U-47 build up.  I discovered that one of the linkage components came up short.  I don't know why as the measurements matched the instructions.  It was easily fixed but puzzling.  Did anyone else have this problem?

03/15/00 - I made a big mistake on the U-47 build up.  I ended up mounting a servo upside down!  I also had the on/off switch mounted in the wrong position.  I've corrected the pages and pictures associated with the snafu.

01/22/00 - Hurray!  I've finally beaten frontpage98 into submission and can update my web site again.  We have just about completed our move and just have a few minor projects to complete before I can get back to my hobby.   I've left the Banckert tugboat in the last stage of construction.  The boat is finished with the exception of the ballast being placed.  Since it has turned cold, I will probably wait for some warmer weather to float it.  I'm planning to start on a new boat, a Robbe Berlin.  This kit has a ton of features and should prove to be an interesting build.

Good news.  It looks like I have recovered my money from SeaTec MODELS.  Thanks to my credit card company, TravelersBanks, who did a charge back even though the deadline for such a transaction was past and they had no legal liability toward me. I've also noticed that SeaTec's web site is no more.  I hope my letter writing campaign had something to do with it!  I've talked to a few people who tried to business with them, only to be disappointed as I was.  Good riddance to SeaTec.

Look for another submarine project later this year.  I have not made my final selection but the Eden type VII is still high on my list.

12/29/99 - Added picture to personal page of my new niece.

12/20/99 - Nothing new.  I have had to put my hobbies aside because we are moving to a "new" house.   By new, I mean the house is new to us, it's actually 70 years old.  Most of our free time has gone into fixing it up.  I hope to get back to doing regular updates in the second half of January.  Wish us luck!

11/02/99 - It's been a while since my last update, with vacation, work and various other things, my attention has not been on my hobbies or this web site. 

Today I've added a spot in the scale boat section for a Dumas 41' Coast Guard boat.  I purchased this one off of e-bay and it is partially built.  I need to locate a set of building instructions for it and I have no idea when I will start working on it.  I've got too many kits and not enough me.  (What a problem, huh!)

I've also added some more info about options for the F14 radio in the Electronics section.

10/25/99 Added more to personal page about Navarre trip.   I visited a cool hobby store and bought a couple of boat.  One is a Artesania Latina Amsterdam RC tug and the other is a small working model of a U-boat.  It's not RC but it's propelled by an electric motor and does dive so I'm going to add it to my pages.

10/24/99 Added pictures of Fairwind sailboat doing it's thing.  Added a few Navarre vacation pictures to personal section.

10/22/99 Added more to Albacore Submarine page (Albacore|Construction|Finishing....Formally titled Trimming).  Removed Eden submarine slot from sub section since SEA TEC MODELS lied to me.  SEA TEC was giving me the run around so Kimmy called Eden Models for me and was told that they have heard of Sea Tec but never have received payment for any boats and thus never shipped any boats to them.  If I am able to recover my money from SEA TEC I will probably order a sub direct from Eden Models.  (Wish me luck!)

10/20/99 Not much since I was watching the Braves/Mets baseball game.  I did discover why my Banckert tug would not go in reverse and added that info to Banckert|Construction|Superstructure. 

I had to rearrange the pages (again!).  I'm going to add sailboats (Kyosho Fairwind) to the mix soon.

10/13/99 Nothing!  I ended up completely sanding down the top hull on the Albacore.  Turned out the primer that I used was causing my painting problem.  Still have some body work to do.  May even have to do the bottom hull (Ugh!).  I did get the PBU kit for the sub last night.  Nice stuff, I will post pictures of it when I get the chance.

Westbourne Model Centre (in UK) sent me the latest Robbe catalog to "tempt me", like I need to be tempted!  The Navy F14 pictured within this site came from them.  Real nice people to deal with, I highly recommend them.  I'm putting together a list of "stuff I need" before Kimmy hides the catalogs :^)

Kimmy got us some playoff tickets for tonight so there will be no new content tomorrow either
